Accessing the LRC Online

Updated: Aug 26, 2021

LRC E-resources and Support Need to direct your learners to some high-quality online academic resources? Need to access such resources yourself? Don’t worry, the doors may be closed but the LRC is still open for business online! All the LRC e-books and e-journals are available from home this means you can keep on learning using the trusted resources we provide. There are different ways to access the resources, all start at our LRC Information Canvas page.

If you are new to this, my advice is to start with Heritage for e-books and the E-resources list for your e-journals, so as not to overwhelm yourself. Discovery will run searches for both e-books and e-journals, and this can be information overload for some people, so try this once you’ve got some confidence. I’ll take you through step by step how to get started with all of them. Heritage for e-books:

Go to LRC Information on Canvas Choose the LRC CataloguesClick through until you find the search pageUnderneath that click on the word Advanced. The advanced search lets you search for specific media type. So, in the media type drop down, find and tick e-booksPut your search in and click the search button Choose the e-book you want and click on the title to get more information up about it. This is where you will find the link to access the full text. You can use either the Read me button or the URL in the citation. If you are shown theOpenAthens box, use the Find Your Organisation box and put in Middlesbrough College. For VLeBooks, use the Shibboleth button and find Middlesbrough College. Then Read Online or full text. E-resources list for e-journals

Some publishers are making their e-resources free through the COVID-19 crisis. We will keep up with what is offered and keep adding to the list, so keep checking this area regularly. And finally... The LRC staff are working from home and are only an e-mail, text or discussion post entry away from helping you
