Support for our HE Provision!

Updated: Aug 26, 2021

Please see below a message from Advance HE and a copy of March’s edition of ‘In Partnership’ .

We are aware that over the past month and more particularly the past two weeks has been incredibly challenging for the sector and Middlesbrough College as you will have moved course delivery online, sought out alternative methods of assessment and feedback and ensured provisions for both staff teams and your students. Along with the rest of the sector, Advance HE is adjusting to the challenging times in which we all find ourselves. We are determined to support our members by delivering as much as possible online and maintaining the best possible, flexible service. During this time, we have been informed of amazing actions from institutions in offering student support and truly innovative practices in pedagogy to support online learning.

This month I would like to draw your attention to the following areas:

· Advance HE has set up a page in response to COVID-19. If we are undertaking any bespoke programmes with you and any programmes and events you or your teams may be booked on to will either be delivered online as an alternative, where possible or postponed to a later date. Individuals booked on will receive confirmation for each event or programme.

· Culture - the key to good governance - We have a free event for members on 30 April. This is now being delivered online and can be booked on to via ‘In Partnership’

· Advance HE Connect – please encourage your staff to register on our free platform for HE professionals. This has seen a large amount of discussion recently about online teaching and learning and support from the sector facing similar challenges. We  launched new groups for College Based HE and Small and Specialist Providers this week. We have added you automatically if you are on the platform to the relevant group. If not please feel free to log in and create an account to join. Please could you also encourage your colleagues to join this.

· Creating conditions for student success -Dr Gurnam Singh reflects on winning his National Teaching Fellowship (NTF) award in 2009, and the opportunity it gave him to ‘push the boundaries’ of teaching excellence.
